"la valse sans retour" portrays my grandfather's struggle for life, his battle against the illness
wich took his life. There is a strong confrontation in this piece between, on the one hand,

the waltz movements representing the illness, having the last word at the conclusion of the piece,
and the death of "le cher individu". |

7.Island of the dead (De l'île des morts)
This piece is dedicated to my uncle Max Soumagnac (a learned man, music lover, painter, architect) who
shared a deep friendship with my grandfather. After hearing "portrait", he strongly encouraged me to
write. Shortly after his death, an exhibition of his paintings was organized. These paintings, which show
a certain Picasso influence, included his last works on the theme of death and one of these, magnificent
and terrifying, was entitled "De l'île des morts". This seventh piece makes reference to my uncle's vision,
his ladscape of death, and also th the famous painting by Arnold Böcklin.
